Behind Every Great Service Is a Great Kitchen Leader

At Common, we're looking for an experienced and passionate Kitchen Manager to join one of our busy venues. If you're ready to take the next step in your hospitality career and want to work in a business that values teamwork, leadership and development, we'd love to hear from you.

While the job description explains the responsibilities, we wanted to share a little more about why this role is so important to us and what it's really like to be part of the Common team.

When guests visit one of our venues, they experience the end result of hundreds of small decisions made throughout the day.

Fresh ingredients arriving before breakfast. Prep lists being ticked off. Deliveries checked. Fridges organised. New team members learning the menu. Suppliers being managed. Food safety standards maintained. Service planned before the first ticket even reaches the pass. None of this happens by accident because behind every successful kitchen is someone who keeps everything moving.

Why This Role Matters

As Common continues to grow, we're always looking for people who want to build careers, not just jobs.

One of the most important roles in any of our kitchens is the Kitchen Manager.

It's a position that sits between the operational demands of a busy service and the leadership required to build a strong, motivated team. While our Head Chefs lead the culinary direction, our Kitchen Managers help ensure that every shift runs efficiently, every standard is maintained and every member of the team has the support they need to succeed.

It's a role built on trust, organisation and leading by example.

There's a common misconception that kitchen management is all about stock counts and rotas. Those things matter, but people matter more. The best kitchen leaders are the ones who create calm during a busy service. They coach rather than criticise. They notice when someone needs support. They encourage high standards because they care about the team, not because they're chasing perfection. That's the type of leadership we're committed to building across all of our venues.

They're helping to shape the culture of the kitchen by:

  • Supporting the Head Chef with day-to-day operations.

  • Maintaining exceptional food safety and hygiene standards.

  • Managing stock efficiently and reducing unnecessary waste.

  • Training and developing junior chefs and kitchen assistants.

  • Creating consistency so every guest receives the same great experience.

  • Helping the kitchen remain organised, positive and prepared for every service.

When these things happen well, our guests notice, even if they never see the work behind the scenes.

If you're passionate about hospitality, enjoy developing people and thrive in a fast-paced kitchen, we'd love to hear from you.

The Kitchen Manager role is about much more than running a service, it's about helping build the kind of kitchen that great teams want to be part of and guests want to return to.
